Andrés is interested in intragenomic conflict within Paternal Genome Elimination species and the role of this evolutionary force in shaping the evolution of this and other alternative reproductive systems. He mostly works with mealybugs and human lice and is currently characterising supernumerary chromosomes in the obscure mealybug. When he is not doing research, he can be found teaching genomics or finding ways to squeeze as much DNA as possible from very tiny critters in the wet lab.

Kamil works on genomic consequences of Paternal Genome Elimination. His favourite PGE species are globular springtails. More generally Kamil is interested in genomes with peculiar properties, which are usually those with unusual reproduction. As a by product he co-developed smudgeplot, a visualization technique for understanding genome structure and ploidy.

Postdoctoral fellow |
Robert is a ERC-funded PhD student interested in the evolutionary and molecular mechanisms underpinning diversity. Currently he focuses on understanding sex chromosome evolution in Bradysia coprophila, a fly with highly unusual sex determination. Previously he worked on evolution of sexual dimorphism in Drosophila fruit flies.

Andrew is an evolutionary reproductive biologist working to understand the causes and consequences of reproductive diversity across the tree of life. During his PhD, he explored the roles of non-fertilizing sperm in butterflies and moths. Now he focuses on non-standard reproductive systems in the true bugs. Andrew's current projects include identifying the molecular mechanisms and selective impacts of paternal genome elimination in mealybugs and the evolution of hermaphroditism in scale insects.
